Ganked from dreadbaron:

If you read this, if your eyes are passing over this right now, even if we don't speak often, please post a comment with a memory of you and me. It can be anything you want -- good or bad. When you're finished, post this little paragraph on your blog and be surprised (or mortified) about what people remember about you.

I remember you at a demo/event at the National Guard facility in Highland Ford.
The tournament of the day was a novice tourney.
The day turned cold and rainy, we all left earlier than originally planned.

If I am not mistaken, that was the day we both authorized, yes?
Apr. 11th, 2007 05:39 pm (UTC)
I'm not sure about you.
I think you are correct. It was my first authorization here in fair Atlantia. I took a break again for a couple of years and finally stuck with it after authorizing again at a Lochmere event.

I believe it was Greg (not so know any longer) that was runnign the tourney. He asked me to give up first place as my skill showed me years of practice in AEThelmearc before my extended leave from fencing.

your retelling of the sheep pinata story at pennsic. I *still* giggle about that!

That was one fearsome sheep.

Conrad, you will be missed . . .

(No shit, there I was.)

Crud - In case you got an email about the comment I just deleted, I saw the name 'dreadbaron' in your post and thought it was his journal, so I posted a memory about HIM (burning a witch in effagy - no real Wiccans were harmed).

Many of my memories of you involve being relieved to see that someone friendly was around when I was afraid that I wouldn't know anyone there. :)

Yeah, I was confused. You were burning stuff and I wasn't there? The humanity! :-)

You are making me blush . . .

It's not a specific memory. Just an amalgamated one of your first exposures to the SCA at rapier practice in Tyson's Corner. Back when Marcellus was just starting to do other SCA stuff.

(creaky joint time)
Yes, I can remember the time when Ponte Alto fencing was essentially Master Niall, Brock, Marcellus, Antonio and me, and Marcellus just fenced...he didn't do anything else! Then you came along, and although I left town before your relationship bloomed, I am so happy that you and Marcellus have made each other happy, and probably made each other greater than either would be on your own (not that you both wouldn't have been great by yourselves! :)

Many days I deeply regret the paths in life that have taken me away from that field in Tyson's and my friends there. It's called growing up and getting a career, but that doesn't make it feel any better. I am looking forward to Sapphire and Pennsic and reconnecting with you both.

(end sappy reminiscence!)

Thank you for the memory. It is a beautiful reminiscense. Like I said in my post to you, you are one of the first people I met, and I only wish we could see you more often. :-)

I am also looking forward to Sapphire and Pennsic. We are going to have a great time!

"You will be assimilated"
My first newcomer's meeting at your house. You were so friendly and welcoming. And geeky. And I knew I found where I belonged!

I also remember there being about 4 newcomers there; what happened to that ratio???!

Re: "You will be assimilated"
Thank you! You have become an amazing asset for our Barony, and we are thrilled to have you.

I don't know what happened to that ratio. It sort of goes in cycles. Sometimes we have more newbies than we can shake a stick at, and some others is just the usual suspects looking at each other in newcomer's meetings.

BTW, thank you for organizing the weaving/brewing nights! That is really cool!
