Friday, and I would like to be doing something else. Perhaps because it is a beautiful -- if chilly -- day, I would like to be outside instead of cooped up at the office.
Alas, this will not be. Too much stuff to take care of.
At any rate, I am looking forward to attending Crown tomorrow (albeit late) and also to the visit to VCU for Carlos. I am so hoping that everything goes well and that he gets admitted. Carlos himself, of course, is very excited too.
Of course, he will be applying to other colleges, not just VCU, just in case. But this seems to be the place for him. Keep those fingers crossed.
On other news, I have gone back to working on my never-ending French ensemble project. Needless to say, I have had to dissasemble the sleeves in order to apply what I learned after making the scale model for Wilhelmina. Believe me, the latter technique seems to be working better in the full-scaled model.
I have also added tabs to the doublet. Originally, I wasn't sure if I was going to leave it tabless, like some Italian doublets, and point it to the skirt with the points showing in the outside; attach a skirt to the doublet directly and making it a dress; or putting tabs and make it a two-piece ensemble, with the points hidden underneath.
After my little adventure in scaled-down dresses, I concluded that the latter is the best option and the doublet now sports some very nifty tabs. I am very happy with it.
And now, to work on the sleeves. Stay tuned for more updates, and I will be uploading pictures of the altered garment as they go.
That's it for today.
Those of you who are going to Crown, see you there!
