Update on Carlos

So the Carlos saga has finally come to an end, at least for now.

Surgery was finally performed today, and the doctors say that there was no damage done, although his hand did require seven stitches. Carlos is now awake and asking for pizza, so all is good.

I'm telling you, my kids have the hardest-working guardian angels. They deserve a commendation. (The angels, not the kids.)

Only 7 stitches doesn't sound too bad, waiting 5-6 days sounds bad. Hope lefty's doing well.

And people wonder why national health care is a bad idea......

Actually, I am all for National Health Care. Where I come from, we have it and in spite of all its faults it works. I was telling Marcellus that if this had happened in Mexico, chances are it would not have taken one week for him to get the surgery.

The main problem appears to be that Cork University Hospital is the biggest and main acute trauma center in the country. Therefore, they bring everyone -- and it appears that it is literally everyone in the island -- there. The good news is, it's an excellent hospital. The bad news is, unless you are actually dying, you will be put in the backburner.

Le sigh.

Actually his delay, was hopeful to me. In that the doctors appeared to consider it something minor and delayable.
As for National Health Care, Saw too many people sneaking into and out of Canada to either use or escape their health care system, to believe either system works well.

In a way, it's comforting to not be an "important" case.

I'm glad it's all done now!

Wishing you all well
I know it must be very nerve wracking to go through all this, especially from afar. I'm glad to hear he's been put back together.

Yay for El Brato! I hope everything will be ok with his hand. I'm still concerned that they left it for a week though. :(

Lefty
So can we tell people that the scar is where his 6th finger used to be? Or go with the name Walrus Half-hand?
