I spent the morning running several errands, but mostly making sure that El Brato had everything ready for his trip to Ireland. Yes boys and girls, the child has departed for the Emerald Isle, where his father lives, to spend the summer there. He will be back just in time to attend his first Pennsic. Whoot!
That means that I have garb to make and linen to order. In the meantime, Ruadhri has offered to make a pattern for a léine for the Boy, so I think we are in business.
At any rate, I dropped El Brato at the airport and headed for work. I cannot say that I had the most productive workday ever, but at least I did get to organize some extra information that I need to add to the World's Most Boring Document TM, so all is well.
Then the day got stranger and stranger. ballistabob and I were supposed to have supper at home before heading to carthew's place for Alle Psallite practice. Alas, it was not to be.
For one thing, we got home to find that due to the thunderstorms (driving home was interesting) there was no power whatsoever. Yes, there was power all around the neighborhood, except for our little cul-de-sac. To make a long story short, we ended up at Chaba Thai, since there was no way we could cook anything or reheat leftovers.
After Chaba Thai, we headed up for Alle Psallite practice. We were just reaching Rt. 50, when we get a call from Allasondrea informing us that there was no practice due to a really bad housefire accross the street from carthew.
Oh, the excitement of it all.
And us with no power at home.
So what do you do in a case like that? Head to the Mall, of course.
Well, the Mall can be entertaining to an extent. We picked a couple of books at Barnes and Noble, some make-up that I needed, and sat down to do some reading and kill time while the power came back at home (they now have couches outside B&N at the Mall).
However, one has to go home sooner or later. At around 9:30 we went home, only to discover that there was still no power.
Power did not return until 7:30 a.m. today, and I am grateful that it did since we are getting the downstairs bathroom remodeled starting today.
Without power, there is no remodeling.
Boy, I do hope that today proves to be a more uneventful day.
