Ahhhhh . . . blessed coffee . . .
Since my hunny-bunny was out of town, greta_k, Carlos and I decided to paint the town last night. By painting the town I mean going out for dinner and a movie.
After giving it some thought, we decided to go to Grevey's, a nifty restaurant down the road, which also features a sports bar. This prompted Carlos to exclaim in horror: "Oh, my god! I am going to a sports bar with my mother! Argh!"
The fact that there were sports and a tv involved helped to ease his fright.
That was only the beginning.
Dinner was excellent. I had never been at Grevey's, although I drive by every day. Also, at one point my eldest child, Hector le Darke, worked there as a server. Yet, I had never set foot in there although I had always been curious, given that the place seems to be perennially full.
In the end, Grevey's proved to be a nice family place, with tv sets all around, a bar outside, and a restaurant inside. We went to the restaurant, since the outside bar was too noisy for our taste, where we were treated to good food and good service.
I think we are coming back again.
Afterwards, we went to our neighborhood theatre, and caught the 9:35 show of X-Men 3. Honestly, I liked it a lot. Sure, I don't think that it is as good as X-1 and X-2, but it is still very entertaining and it leaves you with the question of how the heck are they going to wing out an X-4, and include Prof. Xavier, Jane Grey and Cyclops without jumping the shark.
But I have faith. Surely they can come up with something that will be convincing and not ruin the series.
Next pic? Pirates of the Caribbean, followed closely by Nacho Libre.
