Ever since I came back from Brazil, I have been buried in work. I feel like a bad Laurel, since I have not peeped at all anywhere regarding A&S. I didn't even go to Kingdom Arts and Sciences Festival, and this is the first time in years that I miss it. But I was just too exhausted and jet lagged to go anywhere, not to mention that I wanted to have some family time with ballistabob and the kids.
And a girl has to do laundry some time.
Which still has to happen.
Tomorrow, we get new carpet downstairs. It is a caramel color and it's going to look terrific. Several months after El Brato and his friend left the nest, we are finally moving forward. Next step, painting. It's going to look really cool.
My next SCA event is Defending the Gate, which I would not miss for the world. First of all, the fabulous Rhonwen is getting elevated to the Order of the Pelican. That is the awesome. Secondly, el Mateu is playing his Free Scholar prize, and I would love to see him. And last but not least, I really, really want to get my share of fighting. Between snow, travel and work, I haven't gotten my fix of rapier, and it's driving me bonkers.
Night on the Town is not happening for me this year, as I have friends from Texas visiting that weekend, and we're going to the Cherry Blossom Festival. They are like family to me, as we pretty much grew up together. They are also my Dark Child's godparents, and we are really thrilled to having been able to resume our relationship after many years of having lost contact. It will be fun.
I am not sure what's happening in May regarding SCA events. Work is not cooperating as I will be travelling to Suriname for work. And June will see me flying to Peru. My job takes me to interesting places, but never this often in such a short span of time. Not that I'm complaining, but I feel like Dorothy when she got caught in the twister -- and I don't even have a dog.
Is it July yet?
I don't even want to ask.
At any rate, I wanted to teach a class at June University, but I don't think it's happening (see above). I have high hopes for Fall University. We will have to see.
In the meantime, I am going home. We still need to finish emptying the bookcases so the carpet guys can move all the stuff tomorrow.
I will probably post before and after pics.
