South Park Amuse

A Tommy Chong Moment

I have finally slowed down and taken some time off from work. I currently have leave to burn, and no deadlines to kill me. So why not?

Not to mention that I have a lot to do before 12th Night.

Of course, as luck would have it, I have also seem to have developed a bad case of bronchitis as I usually do this time of year. I have a doctor's appointment tomorrow (it seems that 'tis the season to be coughin' as they didn't have anything available today). I do hope that I will be functional for Christmas Eve.

This has sucketh mightily because I have not been able to do much in these past days. Moreover, I was supposed to have my first appointment with my personal trainer this morning, and also a private rapier practice with Dante this afternoon. I had to cancel both, since coughing up half a lung while exercising is never a good thing. Bonus points if you do it outdoors.

Bummer.

This did not stop me from going to the Folger's yesterday with ballistabob to listen to the Folger's Consort Spanish Christmas concert. My sweetie had purchased those tickets a while ago, and we haven't had the time to go out on a date for quite a while.

It was the best date we've had in a while, and I enjoyed it immensely. Then again, I enjoy anything that Ballistabob and I do together. He's the bestest husband ever!

On the other hand, as soon as we got home, I crashed and burned.

The thing about Hycodan is that it makes you feel like a million dollars while suppressing your cough. ("Of course!" says my doctor. "It's opium! You'd feel great! That's why you have to be careful with it!") The drawback is that once the effect wears off, you're on your own and reality checks in. And that's when I started coughing and sneezing again, not to mention shaking uncontrollably. I also started running a fever.

But it was worth it.

So today I'm not going anywhere. Instead, I'll just be back to sipping tea, sleeping, and perhaps doing some sewing. Tomorrow, I drag my butt to the doctor's office, possibly get some antibiotics, and get rid of this thing (hopefully) once and for all.

Here's to hope.

University Classes

Hey guys,

University time is here. I will be teaching a class on my series of "History as a Soap Opera." That will be a straight history class like the one I taught in the past, regarding life in 16th Century France.

On the other hand, I am thinking of teaching a rapier class. Of these, which one would you like to see?
