Duck in Trenches

Pennsic Projects Ahoy!

Pennsic Mania continues uninterrupted.

Last night Marcellus cut some more shirts, and I had fun with my new serger.

I swear, this little toy is the best $199.00 that I have ever spent.

Well, that and the electronic cat-litter box, but that's another story.

At any rate, it is amazing how fast you can lock edges with this little puppy, as opposed to zig-zagging it. A real time saver.

Of course, I do not use it on other types of projects, such as those that I intend to enter in competitions. But for fencing shirts, camp garb, and just general projects, it is amazing, and really easy to use.

So shirts were cut and prepped and, if it rains tonight and fencing gets cancelled, my chiton will be cut, as well as Marcellus' Bocksten tunic and hopefully Carlos' léine. If not, this will happen on Friday.

I feel that we are making progress. Slow progress but progress nonetheless

And speaking of a different subject. Are there any translations of Agrippa's fencing manual? All I can find are facsimiles in Italian.

Alas, I do not speak Italian, so this is not very helpful.

And no, the woodcuts won't help me if I don't have the text.

Translations into Spanish would be helpful. Otherwise, I will have to learn Italian in order to understand this guy.

Finally, Carlos had a misshap during his stay in Ireland. He suffered a bad cut in his hand and will be undergoing surgery tomorrow. (We hoped it would be today but that was not to be.) It seems that no major damage was done, but it is a deep cut and they have to explore that there is no permanent damage.

Of course, this is all happening over there and phone calls and text messages are going back and forth.

I will keep you posted on the results of the surgery.

You scored as Judge. You are a Judge Empath, one who is a "truthsayer". You can tell truth from lies, good from evil. You do not tolerate wrong doing. You are a defender of the good and the innocent. You are kind and merciful but do not play foolish games. (from "The Book of Storms" by Jad Alexander)
