Monday, Monday . . .

I can haz a new camera.

Yes, boys and girls, after saving for this for a while, and after realizing that I had overbudgeted for other things, I found out last week that I could indeed afford to buy my coveted Nikon D90 after all.

So now there she is, waiting for me at my dining room table till I come home.

She is glorious.

Now I just need to figure out how to use all of the fun features.

Oh, yeah.

So this weekend was awesome. laughing_fox and her fabulous partner in crime came to visit us for the weekend. We ended up spending most of Saturday at the National Cathedral, where we found ourselves in the middle of the annual Blessing of the Kirtles. It was really cool. Especially since I love bagpipes and good looking guys marching around in short skirts.

It got even more cool when I got a text from someone saying "Are you at the National Cathedral?" I said "Oui, who are you?" as I did not recognize the number. "Look at the center, two rows behind the kilts. Me and my Dad are kirking it."

And sure enough, there she was, the awesome reasdream smiling and waving at us from the left side of the aisle. It was really funny and unexpected.

In the end, we did take a bunch of pics there, but it was with my trusty little Canon since I did not pick up the Nikon till Sunday afternoon. And that not before swinging by Moving Through Time, where I did manage to take a picture of a Lansknecht guy driving a tractor and hauling a Civil War canon. How cool was that?

And having breakfast with my Dark Child that morning really made my weekend.

But now, it's back to the Salt Mines.

It's Monday and there's lots left to do.

I can't wait to go home and play with my new toy!

I can recommend several excellent texts... But the best thing I found was to just go out and press the shutter and then look at the result.

Hee - I didn't realize you didn't have my new number. It was awesome and hilarious to spot you!

Dad has a D90 and he's been having fun with it - he let me use it this weekend and I think someday I might get one. If you'd like, I cna asking him about books?

Yeah, I was undecided between the D80 and the D90. The deals on the D80 were very tempting! In the end, I got the D90 since it has gone down in price. Otherwise, it would have been D80 all the way. :-)

I've got the first one, have read the second one at my boyfriend's house (he's got a D3),

Now I am jealous! LOL

And thanks for the heads up on the books! I am very excited!

I think we saw the same Lansknecht guy in the same tractor pulling a WWI artillery piece last year, but I'm not sure if we managed to get a picture.

I'll post a picture sometime, and you will be able to tell.

Ooh, Kevin will be jealous. He has a D80 but wishes he could justify buying a D90. He could probably recommend a couple of books.

That would be lovely. It will take a while before I can figure out all the nobs and buttons. :-D
