12th Night (Short Version)

I am still tired. I feel like I was ran over by an 18th wheeler, and I didn't gake the license plates.

I will be probably posting a longer entry on 12th Night, but for now, it's all highlights:

  • Alina and Aneira's elevation to the Order of the Laurel.
  • Cassie's elevation to the Pelican.
  • The fact that Cassie helped by embroidering the badge on Alina's Laurel cassock, and that Alina was helping with Cassie's vigil. Unbeknowst to them, both were sharing a vigil, and neither knew of their own elevations. It was quite amusing, really.
  • A shiny new Baron and Baroness. Congrats James and Kat!
  • Lots of folks being recognized: Dante (Sea Stag); Sian (Opal); Rhiannon (Coral Branch); Vitha (Silver Nautilus); Elizabeth and Elishabeth (Pearls); and I am sure I am missing folks, but you get the idea.
  • Talitha becoming Queen's Bard.
  • Singing with Alle Psallite.
  • Pictures by Bardulf.
  • Bardic at the hotel.
  • Breakfast with friends.

  • Like rheabecc mentioned earlier, it was an all day court, with two intermissions. I didn't really get the chance to socialize.
  • A peerage meeting I could have done without. Yech.

Last but not least, I am pleased how the Gown of Insanity(TM) came out. I was going for the look of Marguerite de Valois from the Valois tapestries, and I think I got the look. At any rate, the great Rheabecc took some good pics of it, and the links are here:

Last but not least, Baron Bardulf took an amazing picture, whereas we tried to reproduce the actual pose and feel of Queen Margot. Here is the comparison side by side behind the cut:

And now, really, I am going to bed.

    Belfebe out.

    Oh Bel...

Sorry. I have to hate you now. Hate hate hate!

(It really REALLY came out just perfect. And I am so very very jealous of your skill and attention to detail.)

Thank you! I still need to add the decorations to the hem of the overgown, but I am really happy how it came out :-D

What an amazing dress. It came out really well. I love the fabric color!
    Jan. 12th, 2009 09:35 pm (UTC)
Thanks! I really lucked out with that fabric.

You looked amazing, congrats on such a beautiful gown! I never got to see it up close so I could ooh and aah and poke and prod... um, yes, well.

    Well done!

Thank you! The gown will hopefully make an appearance at KASF, and this time it will have all the decorations in the hem. :-D

I've been looking at everyone's 12th Night pics and I have to say, you look the best out of all of them.

Everyone else looks like they're wearing costumes (ok, most everyone), but YOU look like you're wearing a museum piece! The color is faaaaabulous!
    Jan. 12th, 2009 09:38 pm (UTC)
    Thanks! :-D

You and the dress are absolutely beautiful! You did such a fabulous job!!!

And I really liked the sequins on some of the trim. And I know where you got the trim. Unfortunately I didn't get to that shop in Florence. Must remember that when they have the next conference. :)
    Jan. 12th, 2009 09:39 pm (UTC)
Definitely trim shopping trip in Florence! I'm all for that!

Loved the gown! And showing the Inspiration picture next to your portrait is a great idea.

Enjoyed your songs at the Bardic, too.
    Jan. 12th, 2009 08:38 pm (UTC)
Indeed, Belphebe, the scope and depth of your talents continues to inspire.

I know I did a fly-by "It's beautiful!" on Saturday, but really -- wow. The pictures, while gorgeous, don't even begin to do it justice.
    Jan. 12th, 2009 09:41 pm (UTC)
    Thank you!
    Jan. 12th, 2009 01:56 pm (UTC)
You did look fantastic! That dress is awesome. I love the comparison pics.
    Jan. 12th, 2009 09:42 pm (UTC)
We just thought it would be fun to put them side by side :D
    Jan. 12th, 2009 02:58 pm (UTC)
It really looks lovely. Too bad we aren't the same size, or I would be tempted to slip into your sewing "labratory" and take it home with me for a visit . . . :-)

Or, I can find the time to come over and ask you to work with me on updating my wardrobe. Hmmm - I think we'll need to go that route when Small Person will let me do so.
    Jan. 12th, 2009 04:39 pm (UTC)
Sorry - spelling challenged today. "laboratory."

I loved, loved, loved your gown. Although I love it so much more in person cause I can see the purple in the forepart better. The lace is to die for.
    Jan. 12th, 2009 09:43 pm (UTC)
Oh, that lace was a real find. And by the way, nice job with your gown! Bardulf showed me the original pics of you, and it looks lovely too. You need to put your pic and the Mors painting side by side too. ;-)
    Jan. 12th, 2009 07:28 pm (UTC)
    You really looked superb!
    Jan. 12th, 2009 09:44 pm (UTC)
    Thank you!
    Jan. 13th, 2009 02:21 am (UTC)
Fantastic dress, and fantastic photo of same! May I please share?
    Jan. 13th, 2009 02:39 am (UTC)
    Share ahead! No problem! :-)

And if you have any questions on the construction, let me know.
