After Xmas Sales and The Joy of Socks

I love after Christmas sales.

And I love after Christmas sales with a bunch of coupons even more.

My favorite store, Ann Taylor Loft, is having big sale, and I had a bunch of coupons. To make a long story short I purchased:

  • One black velveteen suit for work (trousers and jacket)
  • One dress shirt
  • One dress blouse
  • One knitted wool cap

The total for all these items before discounts and coupons? $250.00. After discounts and coupons? $89.00.

Yes, boys and girls, I scored $250 worth of really cool, good quality clothes for the grand total of $89.00!

I celebrated my shopping success by visiting Macy's and getting a buttload of socks, including a pair of fuzzy socks in a leopard print. Because everyone needs fuzzy socks with leopard print.

And speaking of fashion and socks, here is a fun meme involving another favorite item of mine: Shoes.

    You Are Big Black Boots!

You can be best described as: attitude
You've got lots of it - and you love to give it
A guy has to be pretty gusty to hit on you
But if he's your type, you'll warm up... a little

Now you've done it. You've told me I need socks. Now I'm going to have to go out and get socks. And I won't be able to stop at fuzzy leopard print socks. Oh, no. I'll probably even buy tights.

Normally I would have also have been out gobbling up the after Christmas sales except for 2 reasons. First, I don't have a prime shopping buddy to hit the stores with and Second, I have too many clothes already. Since I hardly ever throw anything away (and I am single) I have 3 closets and two dressers full of clothes. I stepped down the path to remedy this on Thursday as my Mom came over and we decimated my closests and dressers to take things to Goodwill (two car trunks and a back seat's worth!) So I will get a tax write off and feel free to "fill 'er up" again! Woot!

Oh, cleaning your closet is a wonderful thing. I went this morning and left 3 bags of clotes to Godwill. Nice tax refund, and now my closet is ready for other stuff.

Normally, if I have not worn something for 2 years or more, I take it as an indication that it is time to find it another home. :-)

I have worked in a VERY casual work environment for the past 5 years but have been keeping the suits and blouses "just in case" I need to return to a more conventenional work place. So the cathartic closet cleaning has a much deeper meaning -a commitment to my current career path. How's that for heavy?
