A Great Idea from Someone Else

I know very little about some of the people who read my journal. Some people I know relatively well. I read your journals, or we have something else in common and we chat occasionally. Some of you I hardly know at all. Perhaps you lurk, for whatever reason. But you read me and I thank you for your interest in my words.

But here's a thought: why not take this opportunity to tell me a little something about yourself. Any old thing at all. Just so the next time I see your name I can say: "Ah, there's so and so...they listen to the Monkeys and know all the lyrics". I might feel compelled to sing along with you when I remember this detail.

I'd love it if every single person who friended me would do this. Yes, even you people who I know really well. If you would like, post this in your own journal and see what gems of knowledge appear.

Despite being *cough*hack*sneeze* allergic to the felines now, I actually had a wonderful cat growing up who would sleep in my bed behind my knees. He'd also walk me to the bus stop in the mornings.

That sounds like an awesome kitty.

I love to wear high-heeled shoes. The higher the heel, the better.

Ohhhh, I love high-heeled shoes. So sexy. I can't wear then anymore, but they look oh, so cool.

I'm in the SCA and am a belly-dancer, cook, fiber artist, and autocrat. I live in Roxbury Mill, used to live in Ponte Alto, and before that Thescorre, in Aethelmearc.

Purple is my favorite color. Bunnies and owls are my favorite critters. Mushrooms give me the heebee geebees.

I've visited Puerto Rico, Mexico, Canada, Scotland, Wales, and England.

A Pontoon who belly dances, likes bunnies and goes places. What's not to like!

I'm also a sock person and have a drawer full of holiday socks (halloween, christmas, valentine's, st pat's), seasonal socks, fluffy socks, kitty socks, mouse socks, anchor socks (my sorority's symbol), professional socks, sneaker socks. Have socks, will travel.

When I was baroness of Marinus, I bought two pairs of socks, one with a duck's face at the toes (the toesies part was the bill) and another that was frog-faces just to wear to our business meetings that I thought might grow tense. I'd wait until things started to get a little intense and then slide one foot out of my clog and sort of wiggle my toes just enough to make a person notice movement and glance down. Worked every time. :)

I love cool socks but my feet are so big that finding really cool ones that fit is a challenge. Which is good 'cause otherwise my drawer would be overflowing.

I adore your husband's cooking. But you probably knew that.
Dec. 20th, 2007 04:51 pm (UTC)
I didn't know that, but I adore his cooking too :-)

Ohhh noooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!

On the other hand, I have lived in Colorado and I do not ski either. One thing is being poked at with 36" of steel. Another one is to fall on your butt and breaking a bone. :-)

I really am "of Humberstone" as my SCA name indicates. I was born in Leicester, England. Humberstone is an area of Leicester now rather than being a separate village. We moved to the US when I was 7.

I live with my hubby and 4 cats - 3 torties and a tabby. I work as a public librarian. I collect rubber duckies.
Dec. 20th, 2007 05:05 pm (UTC)
Hooray for rubber duckies!

Re: I.....
Yay for Buffy!

And we miss you guys. I didn't know your parents were moving to Vermont. I am sure they will have a great time there, but that will mean seeing less of you and David :-(

I resisted learning to sew until I joined the SCA as a wee college freshman. My mother taught my sister as a child, and tried to teach me but I had little interest. I did learn to knit at around age 10 (or so).

I am the terror that flaps in the night....

Seriously...you've known me long enough that I don't think I could tell you anything about myself that you don't already know.

A few years ago, some friends put me up for a few weeks. In a life blessed with fabulous friends and many people who care deeply about me, that time remains a touchstone of the definition of supportive friendship. *grin* Honest.

*Hugs* We miss you.
