FTP for Goobers

Happy Valentine's Day to all!

I am a happy belfebe today. I have finally worked around the problem of not being able to update the website. You see, I had been using FrontPage for both web development and for uploading files. This arrangement worked very well until our host migrated our site. After that, poof!, not only some of my latest updates dissapeared from the Internet, but now it did not recognize my files and did not allow me to upload anything.

After countless phone calls to the company, and after many reassurances that nothing was wrong with my account, settings, files, etc., I decided to download a regular FTP program and see if that worked. I picked Cute FTP because Readyhosting, our webserver, recommended it as very user friendly. (Translation = An easy to use FTP program for goobers just like me).

I then tested it with Greta's Webpage, which I have been working on, and it worked like a charm. Hopefully, I will be able to re-upload my stuff by the weekend at the latest.

The Hamster lives!

Long live the Hamster!

I use CuteFTP too. :) (At the office, we use WS_FTP, which is similar.)

Yeah, they had a link for WS_FTP, and then I decided that an FTP with the name Cute was just too cute to pass :-D

Shame on you for being in league with the Devil. Frontpage just hurts.

Readyhosting and Endurance International Group
My experience with the new company that owns ReadyHosting has been less than positive. Don't assume that the techs have a clue what they're talking about--I had over 50 sites to migrate, several of which used FrontPage, and not a one migrated cleanly.

It appears to me as though Endurance International Group is nothing more than an investment group that uses webhosting as a commodity--and that they don't have a lot of knowledge and ability providing quality hosting. Their technical support team often fails at fixing simple things, and communication has been horrible!

I would recommend looking for a new host--but your mileage may vary!
