When Senior Citizens go Wild

Taking a 5 minute break to update.

This post has been brought to you by the name Grandma C.

This weekend we went to see ballistabob's family, and we had a peachy time at Kenoebles Amusement Park playing mini-golf with laughing_fox, her cool Significant Other, and our very own El Brato.

Nothing says family fun as cursing at the darned little balls that tend to go everywhere but where you want them to go.

We also had a chance to have lunch with one of my favorite people, namely Ballistabob's paternal grandmother, otherwise known as Grandma C, who is a character, and one of the most positive people I have ever met.

A former biker chick in her 80's, she has some of the funniest stories and has me in stitches every time we get together. Moreover, this plucky lady lives her life in her own terms and is very self-reliant. I cannot help but admire her.

After her husband's death, and after living for several years in a large house in the country, with no other company than that of her beloved Yorkie dog, she sold the place and moved into a condo in a senior's community, which she and her "gang" as she calls them, have taken over and have all sorts of antics.

First of all, you must understand that this condo complex used to be an old school. In fact, it is the school that she attended in her younger days. The point is, someone took that building, after the school had been closed, remodeled it, and turned it into a senior citizen's complex.

This has resulted into a bunch of elder gentles living in a dormlike situation, but without adult supervision. (That is, other than the custodians and the medical personnel for emergencies.) Grandma C's recount of their antics leave me rolling off the floor, and I cannot help to have visions of Monty Pithon's skit of "When Grandma's go Wild."

Now she says that she has made arrangements that, when she cannot live in her own anymore, she will go to a specific nursing home that is "where the rich people live." She has also added that "she plans to give 'em hell," and she'll "go down kicking and screaming" before kicking the actual bucket.

Go Grandma C. You are an inspiration to the rest of us.
