Random Ramblings

The application and attachments for the Fall rapier indoor practice has been filled out, stuffed in an evelope and stamped. All I need to do is stick it in a mailbox and I'm done.

One less thing to worry about before I leave for Pennsic.

The menu for Mexican Night has changed from pre-cooked picadillo to freshly cooked bistec ranchero. Don't panic guys, the platanos fritos stay. (I am not stupid, and I don't want to be mobbed by you due to platano deprivation.)

I feel much better now.

I have started to look at vacation packages for next year. The question is, when, and whether that would mean skipping Pennsic next year or not.

Oh, well. We'll cross that bridge when that happens.

In the meantime, I am getting excited at the prospect of vacation planning that does not involve camping.

Six months, three weeks to go.

when does practice move inside again? (I get home at 7pm on a thursday and this weird little part of my brain thinks that going to rapier practice /that night/ would be awesome...)

We should be back inside on the 6th of September.

Don't forget to check directly with the Costume Museum in Bath to see if they will be closed at all next year. When I checked about a month or so ago, they said the study facility would be closed from January through May, but when I checked a few minutes ago, no closings were mentioned.

Actually, I've been looking at some fabulous vacation packages from Virgin Vacations to Florence, or a Florence/Venice combo.

No point in going to England if the Museum in Bath will be closed. Unless, of course, I can finagle a long weekend to London and jump to the V&A. (Provided, that is, that the curator on 16th Century textiles is home at the time and I can get an appointment . . .)

Even better! Let me know if you would like information on either destination, paw through my books and/or photos of Italy, recommendations for shopping, food, gelato (you MUST have gelato - the US has NOTHING like it. Trust me on this), museums, etc. I've been to both places (Venice twice), but I LOVE Florence :-)

Thanks a million! I'll certainly do it!

My vacations this year involved Gulf Wars and next Pennsic. I totally hear you on the "not camping during vacation" thing. Next year I'm only doing one or the other, and I really like Gulf Wars.

How can you have mexican without plantanos? Seriously!

Yeah, I still need to make it to Gulf Wars. I understand it's awesome.

How can you have mexican without plantanos? Seriously!

Can't do without the platanos! This bunch don't care what I feed them as long as there are plantains. Otherwise, they'll tar me and feather me, and tar and feathers don't go with any of my outfits!

Yes! You must come to Gulf Wars. :-) I love it. Never been to Pennsic, been to 2 GW. It kills me that I won't be able to go for the whole week next year.
