Radio Days

That's it. I am biting the bullet and getting an XM Satellite Radio receiver and subscription. I am tired of my favorite rock stations getting cancelled without notice, and I have gotten to the point of wondering which one is next. Maybe I am jinxing them. Every time I find one I like, it ends up getting off the air.

I have checked both Sirius and XM Satellite sites, and I think that XM is better for me. Actually both are good, but Sirius is more geared towards sports and I am not into that. (Wallace, on the other hand, would love Sirius.)

So there, I am getting me radio stations that -- hopefully -- will survive the belfebe curse.

With my luck, I may end up bringing down the entire satellite industry.

Ack.

I've been thinking the same thing. I've gotten to the point of just listening to CDs anymore.

what station died?
What stations have died/changed format?

WHFS died... but they had grown to be kinda crappy in their "old" age. If you want the 99.1 feel from a decade ago, check out 103.1 out of Annap, MD. "!03.1, the diverse musical universe". They have most of the original 99.1 DJs, back from when 99.1 was truely awesome.

Re: what station died?
Z 104. And the other day they were giving Eliot from DC 101 a lot of static. I am wondering how long will that one survive.

Xm radio
We have XM and I love it. Great for long drives - you don't need to stock the car with CD's and then try to change them while driving, don't need to surf for radio stations while driving though tabacco land, NC. Hubby listens to a wide variety of stations, as do the kids, but I tend to just listen to two: bluesville (blues, obviously) and the reggae one. If I could find some sort of generic island afro/cuban station, I would probably prefer that to reggae, but I hate salsa, so the latin stations don't work for me any more than the coutry music ones. Three songs and I am switching...Have fun finding your favorites.
