French Costuming

All I have to say is, perronelle is an awful, evil woman.

She pointed me to this fabric:

And then you have to look at this. Marguerite de Valois in all her splendor at the Valois Tapestries.

The price was definitely *not* G Street prices. Not cheap, but not the $50-$70 range. This one was definitely doable.

And the French costumer fainted with joy . . .

PS. It is 100% silk taffeta too. Or so they claim. We will find out.

I'm telling you! I had sworn to myself not to purchase any more fabric! However, I have learned a valuable lesson. When you find what you're looking for, at a price you can afford at that particular moment, grab it. It may not be there again at a later date.

I am jumping with joy!

You got that right! You can't let the right fabric go. You may never see it again.

I've made that mistake many, many times. :/

I also learned a valuable lesson with the charmeuse gown of doom. Although it was a perfectly good waste of time, fabric and assorted resources, I learned that there can be no compromising when it comes to using the right material.

Plus I learned to draft the sleeves I wanted, so not all is lost. :-)

That's for sure! I've made stuff out of the wrong materials before. No matter how good the "wrong" materials are, they're still wrong. That's why I'm so adamant about using the right stuff for the job. =)

Hmmm :) If that's the eBay seller I think it is, I've used them for quite a bit of silk. I've always been pleased.

I do not WANT to know where you got it. Because no matter how much it cost, I can't afford it. And I WANT it, with a lust that scorches and burns like the fires of Vesuvius.
